Ayurveda is today’s oldest complete health system, emerging from the Indus Valley culture. Practiced continuously for over five thousand years, Ayurveda originated around 6,000 years ago.
Ayurveda means “The Science of Life” and is derived from two Sanskrit words: Ayur (life and longevity) and Veda (knowledge of Science). Ayurveda likely possesses the longest clinical experience of any medical system.
Ayurveda has recognized that sex plays a crucial role in human life. According to Ayurveda, sex is extremely essential for our happy and healthy mental and physical lives.
With an increased awareness of Ayurveda for any sexual issues, people are reaching out to the best Ayurvedic Sexologist in Mumbai.
The oldest practice comprises eight distinct branches, one of which is Sexology (Vajikaran Chitiksa).
The word Vajikarana is derived from the combination of two Sanskrit words. Vaji + karana = Vajikarana. ‘Vaji in Sanskrit means Horse. ‘Karana’ means ‘to make’ or ‘to do.’
If we mix the two words, it becomes “A Horse in Sex Life.”The Horse is supposed to be the most powerful animal in sex. Hence, the Horse symbol is chosen in “Ayurvedic Sexology.”

Definition of Vajikarana :-
The Ayurvedic physician ‘Charaka’ has defined Vajikarana as ‘Yena Narishu Samarthyam Vajivatlabhate Naraha.
It means that ___‘Vajikarana (Sexology) is the one which makes a man strong like a Horse (Vaji) and like steel in a sex Act.
Another Ayurvedic expert Vagbhata, defined Vajikarana as,
Vajikarana is that by which one becomes strong like a Horse (Vaji) and enjoys sex without any fatigue. It also becomes strong and most lovable to a woman. VaJikarana gives strength.
Vajikarana Chikitsa is that branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda, which deals with all types of physical and psychological sexual problems like impotence, libido, poor erection, and early ejaculation in males and sterility, and frigidity in females.
In his great Ayurvedic classic, Charaka Samhita, Charaka states that aphrodisiacs, as mentioned in Ayurvedic therapies, enhance one’s potency.
The Anatomy and Physiology of Ayurveda
The Anatomy and Physiology of Ayurveda are based on three factors –
- Dosh (basic body constituents),
- Dhatu (body tissues) and
- Mala (body wastes.)
According to Ayurveda, Dhatu gives structure to the body and functions it under the governance of the Dosha.
Types of Dhatu:
- Rasa (Life Sap)
- Rakta(Blood)
- Maans(Muscles)
- Med (Fat)
- Asthi (Bones)
- Majja (Nervous System)
- Shukra (Reproductive Elements in the Body)
From Rasa, the body develops Rakta. Then Rakta develops Maans. Maans gives birth to Med, and Med develops Asthi. Asthi creates Majja, Majja creates Shukra.
Shukra is considered a supreme body tissue and the end product of body metabolism. Therefore, ShukraDhatu must be in a good state for sexual satisfaction, strength-expressing performance, and better progeny. For this, the Dhatu chain should always function properly, and this is where Vajikaran drugs (aphrodisiacs) start up. Vajikaran drugsoffers strength and vigor to the ShukraDhatu and the body in the long run.
Semen is the visible end product of the chain of Dhatu. So, the best sexologist in India started believing that semen is very valuable and that it should not be wasted only for the sake of pleasure. The sole purpose of Shukra must be to produce healthy progeny, which will be the basis of a healthy society in the future.
Society has long believed that if everyone follows these guidelines, they can produce Tejaswi(bright and brilliant) and Ojaswi(stronger vital force supporting life) progeny.
Sex should be meant for the betterment of society and not for pleasure. With this understanding, Vajikaram drugs gained a crucial place in the society.
Ayurveda strongly believed that a weak Shukra Dhatu was the main reason for sexual problems in males and females. Vajikaran Tantra (technique) claims that it has tips for normal, healthy, and mature Shukra Dhatu, which is ultimately essential for satisfying and productive sex.
According to the Vajikaran Chikitsa, celibacy is essential for good health. It helps increase willpower, intellect, and memory, in addition to a healthy body.
The Shukra Dhatuis closely related to Ojas or immunity. Hence, Vajikaran prescribed the therapeutic use of several aphrodisiacs and tonic preparations to improvemen’s vigor and reproductive capabilities. Vajikaran also strengthens other body tissues (Dhatus), like muscles, fats, bones, and blood. Vajikarana is primarily concerned with therapies for specific remedies for male infertility and impotence and female infertility.
Apart from being a good aphrodisiac, Vajikaran induces an immediate sense of pleasurable excitement and increases fertile seminal secretions, even in older people.
Vajikaran Chikitsa, a branch of Ashtang Ayurveda, states the cause of sexual inefficiency and assists in using various aphrodisiac herbs and minerals to increase vitality.
The therapy, which renders a person potent enough to produce healthy offspring; provides instantaneous sexual arousal to the extent that one can perform uninterrupted sexual acts; nourishes the tissues so that semen should not diminish even in old age andbrings about happiness, longevity, beauty, strength, and nourishment is known as Vajikarana. The drugs are used for the promotion of sexual health and for treating the male.
